Style icons: Jenny Schecter from The L Word

I don't mean to blow my own horn here but I am without a doubt one of the biggest fans of the L Word. I have watched every episode a dozen times and I can never get enough of it, although, the last season was a lot to be desired and could of done with a better story line and a lot more thought put into the dialogue. This was a real disappointment for me, but unfortunately this is what usually happens when the writers of a critically acclaimed TV program runs out of ideas.

Jenny Schecter was to me the most interesting character in The L Word. She was mainly known for being the most hated character as well as being the most successful in the story. Her personality changed dramatically throughout the series. In the first season her character was very fragile with low self esteem but still cared deeply and compassionately for her friends. She eventually develops into into a successful socialite with superficial desires and had no consideration for the damage she caused to the people who cared about her most. She was the typical character that you 'loved to hate'.

Another quality of Jenny's character that she will be remember for is her wonderful taste in fashion. She has an interesting wardrobe collection which ranged from high couture jewellery, lace dresses and vintage coats to wide rimed glasses and cotton tshirts. Her fashion reflected her articulate imagination in her writing career and is defiantly something i use as inspiration.

The photos I'm posting are in order of which episode they appeared in. And if you look closely you might be able to see her personality evolve from a sweet shy girl coming out of the closet into someone more manipulative and superficial -

“I don’t give a shit if I’ve ‘made you a better man’. It’s not a fucking woman’s job to be consumed and invaded and spat out so that some fucking man can evolve.”- Jenny

*sigh* Love it

polka dot parade

I brought this vintage dress from Tumble Weed last year. I've never really worn brown before. I use to hate the colour brown but recently its starting to grow on me. I think brown with black polka dots is a great combination. And believe it or not this dress is actually my first brown clothing purchase!

Originally the length went past my knees (I never seem to look good in long dresses/skirts) but luckily for me a lady I work with is a seamstress who was more than happy to shorten the dress for me.

And on the subject of polka dot my wardrobe seems to be bursting with polka dot patterned clothing. I do admit that I have an obsession which may seem a bit unhealthy. For a while I thought I was over my polka dot frenzy, but when I felt my heart skip a beat after 'spotting' (haha I'm so lame at puns) these items, I knew my polka dot days were far from over-

The 'Know Dress' from Awoke On A Whale Heart

The 'Lazerade Pixie Dress' from Urban Outfitters

I think I may have a polka dot problem. I've heard of some weird problems but I'm not sure If I've heard of that before..
